Lowry and Boyd letters and reports [microform], 1837-1843.

Letters and reports from Lowry, a federal subagent of Indian affairs at Prairie du Chien, Wis., a Winnebago agency, and at Turkey River, Iowa, concerning the economic problems of the Winnebagos, efforts to make peace between the Sacs and Winnebagos, and the proposed removal of the Winnebagos to the West. A report for 1840 includes detailed specifications for buildings required at a Winnebago agency. Also included are letters and reports from Wisconsin written by Thomas A. B. Boyd, Indian agent at large. Most of the communications are addressed to Wisconsin territorial governors and commissioners of Indian affairs.
